This role will be based in Waikato. Seeking a candidate who is willing to relocate.

There is a flexible working policy; 1-2 days per week WFH, if you need to travel from Auckland or Tauranga (or anywhere else within close proximity).

However, for the first few months, we anticipate that you will be office based as you build relationships and your knowledge of the business.


The role:As the Head of Diagnostics, you will spearhead LIC's Diagnostics division, assuming responsibility for product strategy leadership and serving as the primary interface with stakeholders, both internal and external. Reporting to the GM NZ Markets, this role is pivotal in driving forward our strategic initiatives and ensuring the highest standards of product excellence and market leadership.


Your key responsibilities will include

  • Strategic Product Leadership: Define and execute a robust product strategy for LIC’s Diagnostics division, aligning with organisational goals and market demands.

  • Market Analysis: Conduct in-depth market analysis to inform product decisions and maintain LIC's leadership in diagnostics products.

  • Team Leadership: Lead and mentor a team of product managers and specialists, fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement.

  • Industry Engagement: Act as the primary liaison for LIC's Diagnostics products, fostering relationships with key stakeholders and leveraging insights for product enhancement.

  • Market and Customer Insight: Utilize market analysis and customer feedback to drive product development decisions and maintain competitive advantage.

  • Business Performance: Define budget requirements and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to drive business outcomes and ensure financial viability.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, R&D, and commercial teams to ensure seamless execution of diagnostics strategies and initiatives.

Your experience:‍At your core, you will have strong technical and foundational knowledge in animal health and veterinary science; a Degree in veterinary science, business, or a related field; advanced degree preferred with at least 5-6 years within leadership roles.

  • You will be an expert at Product Strategy and have a deep understanding of market trends, customer needs, and competitive landscape in diagnostics or related industries.
  • An excellent communicator, influencer, and presenter, you will be able to confidently engage stakeholders from Executive level through to leaders and managers across the wider business.
